Coordinates with:  Engineering & surveying colleagues and support staff at all levels; regulatory agencies and municipal officials; occasionally clients, consultants, and contractors

Position Summary:  The Staff Engineer is responsible for preparation of electronic design plans for project development in consultation with the managing Principal and / or Project Engineer.  This position is expected to perform project design functions, CAD drafting, hydrologic modeling and analysis, permit application preparation and project approval coordination. 

Classification:  Part-time or full-time, exempt or non-exempt

Duties:  

  • Conduct preliminary project research and obtain background documentation

  • Analyze field data, prepare existing conditions base maps and preliminary design plans

  • Prepare analyses, design, and recommendations based on project needs along with site features and constraints

  • Drafting and plan development using Civil3D

  • Collaborate with colleagues to devise smart project design and engineering solutions

  • Provide private and public utility design for sewer and water infrastructure

  • Prepare stormwater management plans

  • Assist in entitlement and approval coordination with authorities having jurisdiction

  • Assist with permit application preparation, project bidding, construction review, and construction administration

  • Occasional coordination with clients, other consultants, and contractors

  • Business development and administrative tasks; daily timesheet entries

  • Quality control compliance

Qualifications:

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited school

  • Experience in CAD and other engineering related analysis software

  • Familiarity with small business needs and ability to work effectively and efficiently in a small team setting and on individual projects

  • Productive time management including organizing tasks, prioritizing, planning, and scheduling

  • Strong communication skills for successful verbal and written interactions

Classification:  Part-time or full-time, exempt or non-exempt

Duties:

Duties:                                  

  • Assist Project Engineer with pre-design activities to include project scoping and team work plans, development and maintenance of project schedules and staff assignments

  • Conduct preliminary project research and obtain background documentation

  • Prepare existing conditions base maps and preliminary design plans; drafting and plan development using Civil3D

  • Prepare analyses, design, and recommendations based on project needs along with site features and constraints

  • Provide private and public utility design for sewer and water infrastructure, prepare stormwater management plans

  • Assist in entitlement and approval coordination with authorities having jurisdiction

  • Prepare permit applications; assist with project bidding, construction review, and construction administration

  • Occasional coordination with clients, other consultants, and contractors

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Engineer or equivalent role

  • Advanced familiarity and experience with CAD and other engineering analysis software

  • Familiarity with small business needs and ability to work effectively and efficiently in a small team setting and on individual projects

  • Productive time management including organizing tasks, prioritizing, planning, and scheduling

  • Strong communication skills for successful verbal and written interactions

Senior Staff Surveyor

Position Summary:  The Senior Staff Surveyor is responsible for the preparation of Boundary, Topographic & Utility Surveys; ALTA, Legal Descriptions & Exhibits, Certified Survey Maps, Preliminary Plat, and Final Plat documents for project development in consultation with the managing Principal.  This position is expected to oversee field staff and quality of collected data, perform CAD drafting and project approval coordination. 

Classification:  Full-time, exempt

Duties:                                

  • Assist Project Surveyor & Principal in defining project costs, budgets, bidding, and pre-design activities including project scoping and team work plans

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and staff assignments for individual projects, manage field work schedule

  • Obtain project research and background documentation; prepare project applications & submittals

  • Devise, discuss and coordinate surveying solutions with clients, consultants, and contractors

  • Thorough understanding of calibration, maintenance, and use of field survey equipment (GPS / GNSS, robotic total stations, auto level, etc.) and safety protocol for staff guidance and instruction

  • Prepare project boundary computation and confirmation; high level of Civil3D knowledge for drafting work products

  • Mentor & manage staff surveyors and field personnel including coordination with outside consultants as applicable to the work of those roles, adherence to procedural protocols

  • Interpret construction drawings; perform accurate computations and prepare survey data for field work

  • Quality control review and compliance for office and field surveying operations

  • Business development and administrative tasks; daily timesheet entries

Qualifications:                   

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited school; minimum six (6) years of experience in both field and office surveying roles

  • Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Wisconsin preferred but not required

  • Experience with project leadership, productive and mutually beneficial client coordination

  • Familiarity with small business needs and the ability to work effectively and efficiently in a small team setting or on individual projects
